Dr. Martin Luther King fought for freedom and led protests and marches to get people to give African Americans their freedom. They wanted to be treated equally like everyone else. Around 250,000 people joined the march in Washington D.C with Martin Luther. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.” Even though the African Americans were beaten, thrown into jail, and treated horribly, they still kept on fighting for what they knew was right; the African American Dream(“African- American Civil Rights Movement").
